China Rivers Project is a non-profit founded by Kristen McDonald and Travis Winn in 2007.  Its mission is to protect China’s river heritage for people and wildlife and to foster river-based recreation in China.  It will organize education-oriented trips and training trips on some of China’s most biologically and culturally rich rivers, providing opportunities for decision makers, scientists, and local community members and others to dialogue about the value of healthy, free-flowing rivers.  In addition, China Rivers Project, together with Last Descents, will show local and national government that river tourism is a legitimate use of rivers worthy of being considered for development.
