Last Descent of the Great Bend of the Yangtze

In April 2008 Last Descents River Expeditions will run what could be the last descent of China’s famed Great Bend of the Yangtze. We are looking for up to five guests to participate in this trip that will include Chinese conservationists, local guide trainees, and media. Your financial contribution will make it possible for key Chinese to experience and document this magnificent river canyon before it disappears.
The Great Bend of the Yangtze River is the premier rafting trip in China, offering a rare glimpse into a remote section of China’s famous river inaccessible by road. The trip passes through stunning scenery, including vertical cliffs thousands of meters high and Naxi villages. We camp each night on pristine sandy beaches. In the winter and early spring, the river is clear, and the weather is typically dry and warm. Long sections of calm water are interspersed by several large Grand Canyon-style rapids.
